HISTORY

One of the oldest surviving references to the activities of the Moravian-Silesian Bears is the "Ostrava Bear Den 2012", an event organized by Jirka called Halapartna.

Besides him, there is another Jirka, called Aulon. For his friends (bears and non-bears), he organizes occasional trips, bowling games (they even have a bowling league) and other meetings. One of the hikes is attended by Jirka H., and since he sees that Jirka A. is good at organising them, he asked him to co-organize similar activities under the Moravian-Silesian Bears brand.

At the end of 2013 Jirka A. met David (also known as Badyš.) He sees in him a certain potential connected with a liking for bear bodies and offers him to co-organize a hike to the Ostrava heap Ema.

The hike took place on January 25, 2014 and this date is basically the beginning of a new chapter of the organization. Jirka H. gradually passes the scepter to Jirka A. - Thanks to them, David and bears living in North Moravia and Silesia get the opportunity to go to some of the nice places in the region once a month (and the trip to the heap Ema becomes an annual tradition).

In addition to these (usually Saturday) hikes an event on demand is made during 2015. It is called Bear drinking and is set in the middle of the week so that we can meet up with those who are away on weekends.

And the Moravian-Silesian Bears are starting to cross the borders of the Moravian-Silesian region (they organize events together with Prague Bears, visit bear meetings in Brno and Pilsen) and even the country borders (they go to meet the Polish and later German bears).

Relationships are forming and fraying, and so the North Moravian pack has been part of the Czech Bears organisation since 2019 and is involved in the organisation of the Mr Bear Czechia competition.

Lukáš and Ondra start to help Badyš and Jirka in their leadership: they establish relationships with the Ostrava Pride team, start an Instagram account, work on the website and enter 2021 with a new, shorter name Bears of Ostrava.
